Backpaddock Lakes

Backpaddock Lakes is Central Hawke's Bay's most exclusive water-sports park — three purpose-built lakes set against a picturesque rural backdrop ten minutes south of Waipukurau. Two overhead cable systems pull wakeboarders and water-skiers of every level along dedicated beginner and advanced courses, all without a boat wake in sight. Helmets fitted with two-way radios let instructors coach riders in real time while parents watch from the shore. The wider property doubles as a private event venue: a five-bedroom lakeside villa and four cabins sleep up to twenty guests, a barn kitchen handles functions, and the surrounding two hectares of native wetland attract kōtuku white herons between sessions. Cable wakeboarding here is booked as a stand-alone experience or bundled with sailing, kayaking, and paddle boarding for a full day on the water.
